Current Learning Load

Here is a list of everything I am trying to learn at once. I am realizing that I have started to pick up a few more things than I might have time and energy for. So, I wanted to make sure that I have some clarity on what I am learning so that I can focus on being able to do what I would like and continue to learn new and interesting things.

Active Learning Goals

To help keep myself organized, I've collected all of my learning goals in a single place so that I can evaluate them and prioritize them.

The Learning Framework

In the next 18 months, until September 2025, I will author 'The Learning Framework,' a book that distills my extensive research into the learning process across 100 to 300 pages. This work embodies my commitment to lifelong learning, covering meta-learning, planning, skill enhancement, and reflection. I will dedicate 25 minutes each morning to writing, aiming to refine the manuscript through at least three drafts for clarity and depth.

Commitment: 25 minutes of writing in the morning.

Writing

In the next 16 days, I will significantly enhance my writing process and style to boost my effectiveness in authoring my book, 'The Learning Framework.' I aim to develop a formalized writing system that allows me to confidently and clearly communicate complex subjects to beginners. To achieve this, I will dedicate one hour of focused effort each day to refining my writing skills and process. This dedicated practice aims to build my confidence in my writing abilities, ensuring I can continuously improve my written output throughout my book project.

Commitment: 1 hour of reading and practice each day.

Rocket League

Within the next three months, I aim to advance from Gold to Diamond in Rocket League, testing my meta-learning techniques. I'll dedicate 30 minutes to skill practice on game nights, focusing on surpassing average player abilities to prove my learning strategies work. Success will be measured through match scores and personal points, aiming for Diamond rank to validate my approach and boost my confidence in skill acquisition. Despite challenges like limited playtime and fluctuating commitment, this journey represents a disciplined effort to improve and apply learning techniques effectively.

Commitment: 30 minutes of practice on nights where I play games.

Paused Learning Goals

Guitar

In the next 3 months, I will spend 30 minutes a day practicing chords, notes, and rhythm. So that I can play "Shampoo Bottles" by Peach Pit. This milestone will help me reach my larger goal of learning the guitar for fun. I will spend 30 minutes practicing every day at 4 pm to achieve this. Practice will be broken down into warm-up, 20 minutes skill building, and 10 minutes applying skills to a song of my choice. To achieve this goal, I will learn an instrument to test my learning strategies and play with [Best Friend] or [Girlfriend].

Commitment: 30 minutes of practice everyday.

Paused: To focus on writing and the learning framework.
